La alianza entre GameBCN y StartupXplore

GameBCN y Startupxplore firman un acuerdo estratégico para impulsar el emprendimiento en el sector Gaming.

 

GameBCN, el programa de incubación de estudios de videojuegos, y Startupxplore, la plataforma de inversión premium de equity crowdfunding, unen fuerzas por primera vez para impulsar el ecosistema Esports y Gaming en España.

 

Con este acuerdo, tanto GameBCN como Startupxplore refuerzan su compromiso de apoyar al sector emprendedor de los videojuegos y apostar por él más que nunca, explorando nuevas vías de colaboración mutua. Esta alianza establece que ambas compañías podrán proponerse startups de sus carteras para beneficiarse de una colaboración con la otra parte, compartiendo así su dealflow. 

 

Esto ocurre tras el lanzamiento de una nueva vertical de inversión en Startupxplore, dirigida a startups de Esports y Gaming, un mercado con gran potencial de crecimiento pero carente de capital para financiar proyectos en fases iniciales.

 

El programa de GameBCN está dividido en dos módulos diferentes (producción y negocio), con una duración de tres meses cada uno y desarrollados de forma consecutiva. Al principio del programa se acuerdan hitos de producción con cada equipo, y solo aquellos que alcanzan dichos objetivos acceden al módulo de incubación de empresas.

 

El acuerdo llega en un momento clave para el sector de los videojuegos en España ya que, según los datos proyectados por DEV (abril, 2021), la facturación de las empresas españolas productoras de videojuegos en 2020 fue de 920 millones de euros, un crecimiento del 13% respecto a 2019. Según el informe de AEVI, lanzado el 29 de abril de 2021, la industria facturó en España 1.747 millones de euros en 2020 (+18% respecto a 2019) y una empleabilidad en España de más de 9.000 empleos directos y más de 23.000 empleos indirectos.

 

Las previsiones elaboradas por DEV para los próximos años auguran un crecimiento continuado del sector, que alcanzaría una facturación de 1.223 millones de euros en el año 2022, con una tasa compuesta de crecimiento del 10.3% en el periodo 2019-2022.

 

Sin embargo, a pesar de este auge muchos proyectos se enfrentan a problemas de financiación: un 58% de las empresas no consiguen el capital buscado al no encajar con la tesis de inversión de grandes inversores de España, teniendo que recurrir a business angels. En este punto es donde Startupxplore, con su nueva vertical, puede hacer frente a estas necesidades de financiación, ya que un 92% de los proyectos lanzados hasta la fecha consiguen cerrar ronda con éxito en la plataforma.

 

En palabras del CEO de Startupxplore, Nacho Ormeño: “Es una oportunidad excelente para aportar valor a la industria del gaming y a emprendedores que necesitan recursos para impulsar sus empresas, por otra parte, nos permite seguir ofreciendo a nuestros inversores acceso a una nueva tipología de proyectos incluyendo más opcionalidad y diversificación a su cartera de inversión.”

 

Por su parte, Simón Lee, fundador de GameBCN, ha afirmado: “Hay mucho talento en la industria española del videojuego. Según el Libro Blanco del desarrollo español de videojuegos 2020, el año pasado había 415 estudios constituidos y 240 sin constituirse en España. Para el 77% de los estudios, la autofinanciación y los medios propios siguen siendo las principales herramientas para subsistir en el día a día, y el 64% aseguran contar en la actualidad con necesidades de financiación. Por este motivo, es necesario ayudar a estos equipos para hacer crecer el tejido industrial y para mejorar la posición de España a nivel de facturación (octava a nivel mundial), tal y como hicimos con Lince Works o Appnormals”.
